Winter Solstice

The winter solstice, December 22 at 5:30 UTC this year, is the shortest day of the year. Flowers make up for that.

Cats and Dogs and Birds, Oh My!

Upon recently looking through my photos, I’ve decided I have some interesting photos of my cats, my dog, a Red-bellied Woodpecker, and some Blue Jay hatchlings. And no, the dog’s name is not Toto.

JHU Ice Sculptures

Apparently someone decided there should be ice sculptures at Sunday brunch today. I don’t know why they’re there, but they’re still elegant.

11/11/11

Numbers and photography are both enjoyable. So why not take photographs when the date has such unusual symmetry? I decided to go for a walk and look for something that would represent the numeric date. After contemplating fence posts or the columns in front of the Baltimore Museum of Art, I settled on wireless cells—a little manipulation left me with six cells in a row, colored in pairs. It is a synergy between modernity and the mathematics that is fundamental to everything.

While out with my camera, I decided to capture the beautiful Fall foliage as well.

Every Cloud…

Every cloud has an Ag (silver) lining. Chemistry jokes are tons of fun! (Metric tons that is).
